Major
Leaguer investment guru coming to town
Nationally-renowned
advisor to brokers and investors to discuss 2008 forecast and strategies.
Many Major League Baseball fans aren't
old enough to remember the players of the 1970s. There was Steve Garvey, Rod
Carew, Johnny Bench and Willie Stargell. And players like Mike Schmidt, Pete
Rose, Tom Seaver, Rollie Fingers and Tom Lundstedt.
"Tom" who?
Tom Lundstedt. Drafted by the Chicago
Cubs in the first round of the 1970 amateur draft, Lundstedt was called up to
the Majors in summer 1973, and played catcher for the Cubs the rest of that
season and all of the next. Then, he was traded to the Minnesota Twins, where he
played the 1975 season.
Though many people may not remember Lundstedt's baseball career, real estate
brokers and investors throughout the nation know the career he chose after
baseball: real estate investing,
sales and consulting. With a degree in business administration, Lundstedt turned
to real estate after he left Major League Baseball. He became a Realtor®,
and he earned certification as a commercial investment consultant.
After years selling real estate,
Lundstedt decided to capitalize on the communication skills he'd developed by
helping educate other Realtors®
and real estate investors. He developed a number of information-packed education
programs and began giving seminars to groups of real estate brokers.
Now Lundstedt talks to groups from
California to New York and all points in between, in a way that is entertaining
and enlightening. His sense of humor and sometimes self-effacing demeanor make
him a favorite speaker among groups large and small.
Lundstedt will bring his real estate
knowledge and enthusiasm to the Portland area Jan. 12, when he is scheduled to
be keynote speaker at a seminar on the condition of Oregon's real estate market,
plus strategies and opportunities for 2008. The seminar also is expected to
include a roundtable discussion among mortgage brokers about the condition of
real estate financing in Oregon, and an address by Bill Carter, president of Pacific Northwest Title of Oregon.
Lundstedt will talk about tax
strategies and other tools that real estate owners can use to maximize their
return on the real estate they own.
Event organizers say the seminar is not
designed to teach people how to "get rich quick in real estate." It's
also not one of those free seminars intended to lure in as many people as
possible, then give them lots of general or vague information in an attempt to
get them to buy a book, or CDs or some other "program" to learn how to
make money in real estate.
The seminar is designed to give
specific, detailed information in a way that is easy to understand and useful.
It is all about helping owners of homes and investment real estate to squeeze as
much money as possible out of the property they own.
Organizers say they expect attendance
to be high, so they recommend getting tickets as early as possible. Admission is
open to the general public, with tickets available for $25 at the door or at any
of Windermere Realty Partners' four offices in Clackamas, Canby and Molalla.
Other brokers have called Lundstedt
"the funniest investment and tax guy in America." They say his programs for residential and investment real estate have entertained and enlightened
thousands of audiences across the country.
Said one broker: "Students of a Lundstedt workshop invariably rave about how much they
learned—and how much fun they had doing it!"
“Every time I attend one of Tom’s seminars, I know I’ll leave with solid information I can use
immediately,” said another recent attendee.
The event runs from 12:30 to 4:00 p.m.,
Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008, at New Hope Community Church, 11731 SE Stevens Rd.,
Clackamas, OR 97086. For more information, contact your local Windermere Realty
